All partners of the DROP-IN project met up in Trapani from May 2nd to 4th.
It was a needed in-person meeting that consolidated the north-south alliance of all partakers.
Three days working together on the topics of education and guidance of teenagers’ transition to adult life while consolidating alliances with the educating community.
The impact of the activities in the provinces of Lecco, Agrigento and Trapani recounted the needs and expectations of the girls and boys involved in the project: teenagers aged between 14 and 17 are likely to drop out of school and be socially and relationally marginalised. Loads of them here have interrupted their studies and do not work (so-called ‘Neet’.)
On the first day, at the headquarters of Beehive Valore Sud the project partners reviewed a year of activities and strengthened the ‘heritage of alliances’ at the service of boys and girls, because the education of the new generations is everyone’s responsibility.
The meeting with the educating community was attended by representatives of the Hospital and Municipality of Trapani, by the Observatories against School Dropout, the Guarantor for Children, and various Third Sector organisations- Ashoka, Elis, Hope Community House, to name a few.
On day two, work continued at the Euroform Vocational Training Centre. Lack of education and educational poverty are the brakes to entering the labour market, which is why the meeting with students and trainers from Euroform in Trapani was a moment of discovery and confrontation on the theme of combating resignation in order to return to desire, not to lose self-esteem and confidence in one’s own means.
One of the working sessions was also dedicated to social impact assessment together with the external evaluator, Open Impact, during which they focused on the underlying Theory of Change of the project, the objectives of change and the indicators to assess their achievement.
The DROP-IN Project is financed by the social enterprise Con i Bambini and is co-financed by the Fondazione Peppino Vismara and the Fondazione Comunitaria del Lecchese.
