Regarding the Politeia project, co-financed by Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) as part of the AICS ECG 2021 Call for Proposals, Lot 1, Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani continues to lead the project’s networking and stakeholder engagement actions on the themes of Inclusive Green Economy. The action, activated in the Calatino area, aims to create alliances and trust networks, involving institutions, no profit organizations, businesses, and citizens, and promoting the co-design of initiatives and programs for sustainable local development.
In Politeia, the Foundation also adopts the paradigm of social generativity as an approach to trigger positive changes at the social, economic, and environmental levels, always with the perspective of community growth generated by the community itself. Systemic generative actions that bring together different forces to address social, environmental, and economic challenges in the Calatino area, in order to maximize the impact and sustainability of these actions.
The Foundation’s activities are allowing the creation of a participation platform and resource catalyzing, while offering local actors support in terms of knowledge sharing and facilitation in translating ideas into tangible actions.
From May to June, the first part of the training journey was carried out: 4 (trans)formative workshops held in the cities of Ramacca, Caltagirone, Mazzarrone, and Vizzini, involving numerous citizens, no profit organizations, public administrations, and companies. The workshops focused on social generativity as a tool to promote change and the creation of social value. Participants were able to internalize the method, were stimulated to collective creativity and imagination, and learned the importance of the generative pact and how it can guide and support community action in the long term. Each workshop was structured interactively using various participatory techniques. This allowed participants to share experiences, perspectives, dreams, and aspirations for the social impact of the territory.
The endpoint was the harmonization of their contributions into the Community Generative Pact. The Pact is now in the collective drafting phase until September 28, the day when the celebratory event for the restitution and signing of the Pact will be organized in Caltagirone.
From the Generative Pact, the second part of the support journey will commence in October: 10 meetings aimed at supporting local actors in the establishment of a community organization that co-designs socially impactful interventions in response to the needs of the Calatino area, particularly actions promoting social inclusion and care for vulnerabilities. All of this by fostering hybrid alliances between civil society and public administration.
