Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani had the pleasure of renovating its commitment towards climate action on the occasion of the Climate Action Days event held in Berlin and promoted by the European Community Foundation Initiative – ECFI.
On 21st and 22nd September, at the Spore Initiative in Berlin, community foundations coming from different European countries (Germany, Italy, Austria, Great Britain, Netherlands etc.) met to enhance a European network created thanks to the experience of the Climate & Philanthropy Journey, a scholarship addressed at various members of community foundations interested in improving their skills and competences in fighting climate change at a local level.
In Berlin we talked about hope, innovative solutions and the transformative power of climate action at local level. Good practices, peer learning activities and initiatives undertaken were the subject of exchange among the various Foundations in these two days that saw the participation and contribution of two special guests:
– Marie Lamotte, as project manager of Active Philanthropy. The central topic of her talk was “How can we enable solutions at local level?”, sharing direct experience following the steps taken by Active Philanthropy during its most recent experience.
– Eva-Maria McCormack, founder of Talking Hope®, shared a reflection on the subject “Solutions, not crises. Why do we need a new climate story.” The ideas discussed concerned the mass media approach in vehiculating a certain climate terrorism and how this psychology of fear has little impact on making environmental awareness long-lasting.
Special thanks go to Felix Hauerken as Space experience manager of the incredible Impact Hub in Berlin: the guided tour of the hub offered a chance to discover this unique co-working space where digital innovation, circular economy and sustainability meet. There, companies looking for innovative laboratories can submit their application to participate in an accelerator program in the context of the professional ecosystems that the Hub deals with.
From local commitment to global impact: alone we go faster but together we go further.
