The Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani and the Municipality of Trapani have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting joint local development actions through the co-planning approach. The memorandum of understanding, signed on 24 October last, is an example of how third sector organizations and the public administration can work together for the local development.
The agreement aims to promote, in particular, joint actions in the following areas of intervention: community development, sustainability, inclusion and cohesion, digital transition, ecological transition, social enterprise.
Together with the President of the Community Foundation Pietro Basiricò, the Mayor of Trapani Giacomo Tranchida and the Councillor for Social Services and the Third Sector Giuseppe Virzì were present at the meeting.
The President of the Community Foundation Pietro Basiricò said: “We strongly wanted to sign this agreement to promote collaboration between the third sector and the public administration with the vision of encouraging concrete system actions able to provide answers to the needs of our community in the areas of intervention of the community foundation: local development, inclusive education, social enterprise and sustainability”.
The importance of an agreement of this kind for the Municipality of Trapani and the Community Foundation is also part of the possibility of taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the PNRR and the European programming for Euro-Mediterranean cooperation by using the co-programming and co-designing tools provided by the Third Sector Law.
This alliance emphasises the importance of developing a socio-economic planning network for the territory capable of enhancing the skills and peculiarities of the third sector for the sustainable development of our communities.
