Through community crowdfunding, we can support the micro-educational space of Mazara del Vallo in the realization of the ‘Crescere con cura’ project. The initiative aims to support three families in economic and social difficulty, offering concrete help in the care of school-age and pre-school children. The Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani has recognised the social value of this initiative and is committed to financing the project by contributing 50% of the project’s goal, up to the first EUR 5,000 raised through community crowdfunding.
The educational space in Mazara del Vallo, activated as part of the ‘Micropolis: a new model of community welfare’ project selected by Con i Bambini within the framework of the Fund for the fight against juvenile educational poverty, is dedicated in particular to children of Tunisian origin from the Casbah district and their families. The Association Casa della Comunità Speranza, which has been active in the Mazara del Vallo area for a decade, is committed to further strengthening its support by offering personalized assistance to three second and third generation Tunisian families facing economic and social difficulties through home care.
The ‘Growing with Care’ project aims to support three families facing economic and social difficulties by providing concrete help in the care of school and pre-school children. The families identified are one with four children, one of whom has Down syndrome, one with a girl and another with two children.
After an initial observation period to identify the specific needs of each family, the team undertakes to support the parents in various activities, including improving housekeeping, personal hygiene and household management. Other areas of intervention include spending to promote balanced nutrition, individual and relational development of children, facilitating access to social and health services, and supporting the organization of children’s daily activities.
In addition, the team aims to encourage positive emotional relationships, facilitate interactions with teachers and school, motivate children to study and complete school assignments, and organize free time with family outings and shared activities. The aim is also to promote children’s socialization with their peers and significant adults, thus helping to improve family relationships in general.
