Politèia: Action Plan for the Establishment of a Community Cooperative in Calatino is published

Ten strategic actions have been identified to establish a “Community Cooperative” in Calatino, a collective social economy initiative aimed at developing common well-being. According to this model, which is increasingly developed in Italy, entities, businesses, associations, and active citizens of a territory work together to implement ideas and projects that meet the needs of the entire community.

These ten actions are detailed and illustrated in the operational plan drafted by citizens representing Third Sector entities and companies who, over the past six months, participated in the cooperation support process developed within the framework of Politèia, a project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

Under the guidance of the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani, and starting from the objectives set in the Generative Pact of the Calatino Community, participants have planned in a single document the proposed activities to address the territory’s need to regenerate the productivity and attractiveness of its existing cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.

From the establishment of a steering committee to the promotion of a “House of Associations and Coworking,” from the definition of a business plan to participation in territorial development grants: like an “instruction manual,” the Plan describes the operational steps to be followed over four years to create, with the involvement of economic operators, “an integrated offer of services and tourist packages that enhance the territory and stimulate the local economy, particularly the social economy.”

Cooperation is therefore the key imperative of a precise but flexible strategy, adaptable to change, to guide social actors in an organized and coordinated process, as demonstrated by the development of a common activity calendar, structured by categories to prevent overlaps, and the organization of “Community events” to keep citizens informed of the results achieved from time to time.
