ECOTOURS
Laboratories for co-development of circular and sustainable tourism ecosystems

Goal of the project

Our objective is to increase sustainability, competitiveness and economic regeneration of rural and coast destinations in Europe through circular tourism.

Who is it for?

The project is addressed to 96 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular SMEs directly involved in the tourism sector and other SMEs interconnected with tourism in the field of agriculture, fishing, catering, crafts, culture, sports and transportation; public actors in the field of tourism, environment and community development policies.

Activities

The project promotes the following actions in order to increase the capacity of tourism’s SMEs and community ecosystems in EU to incorporate and promote sustainable strategies and practices on circular tourism:

  • Co-development and implementation of a transnational capacity building program based on peer-to-peer learning and practices sharing on circular tourism: N.6 transnational study visits & workshops (online and offline) will be implemented in each target area (Italy, Span, Greece, Cyprus, Hungary, France), involving a balanced (both in terms of sector and nationality) number of beneficiary SMEs.
  • Co-created and tested an innovative, multi-stakeholder and multidisciplinary support system to tourism’s SMEs through helpdesk assistance providing consultancy and mentoring services
  • Developed open educational resources (OERs) based on circular tourism, business development and sustainability assessment
  • Co-design & development of N.6 integrated circular tourism’s itineraries in target communities offering unique, memorable and significant travel experiences based on people to people exchange and holistic discovery of territory, its natural environment and biodiversity, its cultural and traditional heritage through people to people exchange and direct experiences
  • Development of a sustainable tourism marketing strategy and plans to promote circular cultural tourism in the target communities

Impact

96 SMEs in particular SMEs directly involved in the tourism sector and other SMEs interconnected with the tourism sector in the sectors of agriculture, fishing, catering, crafts, culture, sport and transport.
120 public and private sector actors will be involved in the activities to analyze the local contexts of reference
200 media channels will disseminate the project’s activities and impact
