Implementation period
2020 – 2022
Goal of the project
The program’s goal was to support initiatives capable of reducing inequalities and fostering inclusive and sustainable recovery of our communities (according to the principles of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals) following the emergency caused by Covid-19. The program was developed through a call for proposals that selected six projects. Then, thanks to the collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo’s ForFunding platform, the selected Third Sector organizations, along with the Community Foundation, launched a crowdfunding campaign. Upon reaching 30% of the amount needed to implement the project, the Community Foundation co-financed the project with the remaining 70%. All projects reached their crowdfunding collection goal. The program supported both new initiatives and ongoing projects by enhancing them.
Who is it for?
The program was aimed at Third Sector organizations operating in the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani.
Supported initiatives
Project “Let’s restart together: get on board” – Social Cooperative Arcobaleno – Valderice (TP)
The project addressed the transportation needs of the elderly and people with disabilities, needs that have increased following the introduction of anti-Covid-19 regulations and physical distancing among people. The social cooperative Arcobaleno purchased an additional vehicle equipped for the transportation of people with disabilities using wheelchairs, so as not to exclude anyone from the service and provide increasingly effective assistance in the area.
Project “Educational Workshops” – Association Casa della Comunità Speranza – Mazara del Vallo (TP)
The project allowed the creation of six different educational workshops for children and teenagers in Mazara del Vallo on street dance, singing, photography, sports, theater, art, and creativity. The Association Casa della Comunità Speranza takes care of minors at risk of social and cultural exclusion of different backgrounds, religions, and cultures, promoting social cohesion and multiculturalism in the workshops.
Project “SOU and Prime Minister: School of Opportunity” – Farm Cultural Park Association – Favara (AG)
Educational activities for children and teenagers in Favara were carried out through: SOU, the School of Architecture for children, and Prime Minister, the School of Politics for Young Women. With the “School of Opportunity,” Farm Cultural Park provided young participants with skills and knowledge to bridge the social and cultural gap and restore their dimension of possibility.
Project “The Good Samaritan” – San Giuseppe Parish – Castellammare del Golfo (TP)
The project allowed the Parish and its assistance organizations to better serve people living in situations of poverty and marginalization. Volunteers implemented a new after-school service for families in difficulty and renovated and updated the spaces and tools useful for managing and enjoying the entire support and human promotion circuit.
Project “Widespread Infopoint: a welcoming city” – Community Cooperative Identità e Bellezza – Sciacca (AG)
To welcome anyone arriving in Sciacca, the local community transformed bars and shops into always-open and fully inclusive widespread infopoints. Places that welcome and provide information in all languages thanks to simultaneous translators and bridge the communication gap with deaf people, who are usually excluded from any form of tourist reception. With the same simultaneous translator device and a LIS interpreter, deaf people can access informational materials and video guides.
Project “#ApeOperosa” – Al Kharub Social Cooperative – Agrigento
Al Kharub’s beekeepers set up a small woodworking workshop for the construction of frames, hives, dividers, feeders, and anything else that can help maintain and protect the Sicilian black bee, thus preserving local biodiversity. The project created new educational and work opportunities in the field of beekeeping, thanks to the employment of people in vulnerable situations.
