Peer Civic
Strengthening the civic commitment of young people through Peer led initiative community

Goal of the project

Our focus is on fostering and strengthening civic engagement and increasing the number of young people interested in politics through peer-led community initiatives.

Who is it for?

The project is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 25 years from different cultural and social backgrounds; together with 30 youth workers who will be involved in activities and projects to develop civic and social skills at the level of the young people they work with.

Activities

The project promotes the following main actions to foster civic and political engagement of young people

  1. A community of young people in each local dimension will be developed with the task of stimulating the active participation of young people to represent their interests towards EU candidates and elected parliamentarians in their local communities.
    2. Public debates among young people dedicated to the prioritisation of their needs and requirements through a platform and their transmission to future candidates in the European elections.
    3. A transnational training course for youth workers aimed at acquiring professional skills for the leadership of youth communities
    4. A study visit of the 11 ‘elected’ participants among the 300 young people to the EU Parliament in Brussels, to meet elected parliamentarians who have an agenda related to the development of the youth sector among European communities.

Impact

  1. 300 young people with civic competences developed within the project through the creation and development of a peer-led initiative community.
  2. Consolidation of the transnational cooperation of 6 European partners with 30 youth workers to facilitate the analysis and monitoring of the directions of action of the European Youth Strategy over a period of 24 months.

Program

The Peer Civic project was selected and co-funded by the European Commission’s ‘Erasmus+ Youth Together’ programme under Key Action 3 (Support for policy development and cooperation).
