Social Post - covid Urban Revitalization
SPUR

Goal of the project

Our purpose is to promote social revitalisation, to establish transnational cooperation by linking a network of designated cities to work together to find sustainable solutions on the issues of civic participation and the fight against inequality.

Who is it for?

The project aims to involve citizenship from peripheral urban areas that have experienced severe marginalisation, caused or aggravated by the pandemic.

The project aims in particular to involve: young people (aged 18 to 29) and elderly people (aged 60 and over) with a special focus on women and citizens with a migration background in order to promote interventions that strengthen forms of intergenerational solidarity.

Activities

The project promotes three main local and three international actions aimed at fostering social revitalisation and establishing transnational cooperation on issues of civic participation and combating inequalities:

  1. FIRST LOCAL COURSE: Involvement of participants and identification of their needs through participatory consultations within their own community.
  2. SECOND LOCAL PATH: Local pilot actions for social cohesion in neighbourhoods. In the second local pathway, consultations will be organised with citizens to identify activities to be implemented in their communities.
  3. THIRD LOCAL PATH: Implementation of local pilot projects. In the last local pathway, each community will implement designated actions to foster urban and social revitalisation developed through co-planning with local communities.
  4. This activity will be flanked by actions of support, co-planning and support for the design of community actions, carried out with young and old in order to promote interventions that strengthen forms of intergenerational solidarity.

Impact

– 720 and 800 direct participants are involved through local pilot actions to increase in social interactions and engagement among elderly and youths, with special focus on partecipation of migrants and women to reduce discrimination attitudes and promote gender equality among municipalities and neighbourhood communities

-40 people for each local path, thus reaching a total of 120 persons in single countries are involved in action of revitalisation of urban spaces and for the improvement of the social well-being.

– 300 to 350 direct beneficiaries of the international events, thus reaching a total of 1020-1150 persons across the EU targeted local communities into a network of designated cities to work together on the themes of civic participation and combating inequalities.

Programme

The project was selected and co-funded by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV) and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
