Futurama and Beehive, exploring the workforce starting from ourselves

Futurama and Beehive, exploring the workforce starting from ourselves

With the start of the third year of Futurama—a project selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund for the Fight against Child Educational Poverty and co-funded by Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti—workshops on career guidance have resumed in schools in Erice (TP) and Palma di Montechiaro (AG). A new beginning is taking shape in the way young people are guided to ask questions about their future, to recognize the skills they already use, and to engage with those they will need to navigate an increasingly complex world of work.

The sessions place a strong focus on transversal skills, from communication to teamwork, from problem solving to time management. These are topics often mentioned, but here they become the subject of practical exercises, discussion, and hands-on experimentation, starting from students’ everyday experiences. The goal is not to point toward a single path, but to increase awareness and the ability to make informed choices.

Futurama was created precisely to offer educational opportunities that bring together guidance, skills development, and exposure to STEM pathways. In the career guidance workshops, curated and coordinated by Beehive, this approach takes shape through practical activities, simulations, and moments of shared reflection, designed to help students better understand themselves and the context around them through complementary experiences.

Job shadowing will allow students to closely observe workplaces and professional roles, making more tangible sectors and careers that often remain abstract. Soft skills workshops focus on transversal competencies, now essential in any educational or professional path. The career guidance pathway will accompany students through practical activities such as building a CV, reflecting on their interests, and simulating job interviews. Alongside this, STEAM guidance includes meetings with young professionals and entrepreneurs from the local area, offering insight into real stories, opportunities, and career paths.

With the launch of activities for the new school year, Futurama continues to invest in students as active participants—capable of questioning, experimenting, and imagining their own future. Not ready-made answers, but tools to find their way.

The journey has begun again, and like every journey worth taking, it starts with questions.

The Futurama project was selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund for the Fight against Child Educational Poverty and co-funded by Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. The Fund was established through an agreement between banking foundations represented by Acri, the National Third Sector Forum, and the Government. It supports initiatives aimed at removing economic, social, and cultural barriers that prevent children from fully benefiting from educational opportunities. To implement the Fund’s programs, the social enterprise Con i Bambini was established in June 2016, a non-profit organization wholly owned by Fondazione CON IL SUD. www.conibambini.org
