The Generative Pact of the Land of Us

The work of the Community Foundation is first and foremost about taking care of relationships. Holding people and territories together, creating connections, generating trust. It is about creating the conditions for change to emerge from below, grow over time and become truly equitable and sustainable development, not just in words. That is why we start from the roots. Not from projects, but from relationships. Not from ready-made solutions, but from deep and shared agreements. The Generative Pact is this: a systemic change agreement that aligns vision, decisions and action. It does not add one more project, but changes the way a community looks, decides and acts together. From this pact takes shape the Land of Us: a concrete space of shared experience, in which what we imagine together becomes daily practice, in gestures, places and common responsibilities.

Systemic innovation in the Land of Us

The Generative Pact was born to overcome crises and inertia, promoting innovation that is not only technological but above all human and relational, to build a future of true renewal based on awareness and co-creation.

  • Territory as Actor: The territory is not just physical space, but a place of social relations, sense of belonging, and an active "actor" in socio-economic development.
  • Shift in Perspective: It moves from an approach of "downloading" old solutions to a process of "co-creation" of an authentic future.
  • Collective Involvement: It involves all actors (citizens, businesses, administrations) in an empathetic and systemic dialogue to define a shared vision.
  • Development "from within": It generates inner evolution in the actors of change, making them protagonists of a transformation that starts from people and their potential.

The three Generative phases

Attention — Deep listening

Seeing what really matters

Attention is the quality of the gaze. It is not just observing. It is shifting the gaze from a reaction to problems to a presence that welcomes the context in its complexity. It means recognising the territory as a living system made of people, relations, needs, resources and desires, before the problems. Tools:

Map of Us

A shared listening tool. It makes relations, resources and needs of the territory visible. It helps to see the "us" that already exists and the possibilities that can emerge when recognised together

Talent Workshop

A space for emergence and encounter. It brings out people's talents, passions and skills. It connects what each person can offer to the real needs of the community

Intention — Shared vision

Choosing the direction together

Intention is what we truly want to generate as a community. Here listening turns into shared choices, not imposed from above, but rooted in what has emerged from the territory. Tools:

Fundability Matrix

The grid that transforms the community's needs and desires into clear choices on which actions to support first.

Shared Resource Attractor

The network engine that brings together partners and opportunities, bringing calls and funding to the territory aligned with shared priorities.

Impact Map

The monitoring system that measures real changes for people and places, from ex-ante to ex-post, to understand what works, what to improve and what to grow.

Agency — Acting together

Acting together

Agency is the capacity to turn a shared intention into concrete action. It does not mean doing more, but doing in a coherent way, putting resources, responsibility and trust into circulation. When Attention and Intention are aligned, action becomes possible and lasting. Tools:

The Generative Fund

The common fund that transforms the community's decisions into funded actions, through shared contributions and matched resources with transparency.

Matching Fund

Multiplying the resources activated by the territory

The Generative Impact Report

The annual report that tells numbers, stories and results, making the value created by the community visible.

Centres of Competent Community - C3

Where listening becomes relationship

Centres of Competent Community are spaces close to people, created to bring out what already exists in a community but often remains invisible. They are places of proximity where the community listens to itself, recognises itself and learns to work together. Here people are not left alone: needs, skills, time and experiences are made visible and connected. It is the place where the self meets the we, and the we becomes capable of taking care of its own present and future.

Centres of Competent Community

C3 make the community:

  • aware, because it becomes conscious of who is there and what can be done together;
  • connected, because people, skills and resources are mapped and brought into relation;
  • competent, because the community enables itself to act, support and take care of its own equitable and sustainable development.

C3 are not service counters, but community infrastructures: places where the territory becomes able to orient itself, collaborate and build the future.

The first four experiences are being born in Trapani, Agrigento, Mazara del Vallo and Sciacca.

Charter of Values and Rules of participation

Entering the Land of Us means embracing a common culture of trust, listening, care, collaboration and transparency: these are the values that guide every relationship and support our way of being together.

The Rules of participation give concrete form to these principles: acting with clarity, exchanging time and skills reciprocally, taking care of people and places, co-designing with openness, ensuring inclusiveness and communicating coherently.

They are not obligations, but a shared commitment: a choice of coherence that allows the community to grow, day after day, through authentic gestures and common actions.
