At the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani we measure the impact of our actions because we believe that every genuine change must leave concrete and recognisable traces. We do not simply count projects and numbers: we assess how we transform territories, strengthen communities and build new opportunities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.
Our work is articulated into 4 lines of action, our generative missions: Roots, Horizons, Seeds, Ecosystems.
Roots: listen, recognise, connect
Roots is the name we have given to all those actions we take to listen to the territories, recognise their resources and connect people and communities. In this mission we strengthen local identities, promote intergenerational dialogue and activate new solidarity networks: you cannot build the future without recognising the value of the present, without listening to the needs, experiences and capacities that already exist in the community.

Horizons: imagine, explore, innovate
With Horizons we support the experimentation of new ideas. Through educational projects, workshops and paths of comparison with international realities, we help the new generations to build more sustainable visions of the future, focusing on social and cultural innovation, the building of digital professionalism and the acquisition of skills in the blue and green economy. Because broadening horizons means going beyond the vision phase and activating transformative processes, so that change becomes real, shared and capable of evolving with the community: social innovation is born when communities not only imagine change, but get involved to build it.

Seeds: experiment, prototype, validate
The mission we have chosen to call "Seeds" focuses on experimenting with new solutions for the wellbeing of territories: to grow the seeds of change, adequate tools, learning spaces and concrete opportunities are needed, through models that can be scaled and replicated over time, such as the creation of energy communities, Youth Bank for youth empowerment, Capability Hubs.

Ecosystems: support, connect, consolidate
Innovation generates real transformation only when it becomes part of an ecosystem, capable of self-sustaining, evolving and regenerating. The consolidation of this process requires the building of strategic alliances, the adoption of sustainable financing instruments and careful measurement of the impact generated. This is why for us the Ecosystems mission represents the systemic dimension of change, the one in which individual initiatives connect in a broader network, generating widespread and lasting impact in the Sicilian territories: not acupuncture of projects, but our vision becoming reality.

Our approach
All our missions have as their ultimate goal the sustainable development of our territories. We have chosen to do this by looking beyond economic capital alone, taking into account the multiplicity of "capitals" that make up the wellbeing and resilience of the places where we operate. Islands of coherence
The Islands of coherence are the places where what we say and what we do meet. Real spaces where we have worked alongside communities, aligning attention, intention and capacity to act (agency).
Social Innovation
We promote the active participation of citizens through engagement and co-design processes, transforming Sicilian communities into protagonists of their own development. In the municipalities of Agrigento and Trapani, we work to strengthen a sense of belonging and community identity, promote collaboration between citizens and institutions, develop active citizenship skills and activate participatory urban regeneration processes.

Cultural Regeneration
We create innovative educational opportunities for Sicilian children and young people, with particular attention to STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), financial education and ethical entrepreneurship, training for green professions and the sustainable economy, digital inclusion and critical thinking development, as well as prevention of school dropout in the most vulnerable areas of Sicily.

Economic Development
We support the birth and consolidation of social impact economic initiatives in the territories of Agrigento and Trapani: social and innovative start-ups, youth and female entrepreneurship, circular and sustainable economy, community cooperatives and local enterprises, as well as responsible tourism projects and valorisation of local resources.
