Project objective
Our goal is to combat educational poverty and school dropout among children aged 5 to 10, offering empowerment opportunities through an innovative, creative and replicable educational process, in collaboration with the community and the territory with an urban regeneration perspective.
Target audience
The project targets children aged 5 to 10 living in conditions of economic and social disadvantage and/or educational poverty and/or lack of opportunity.
Activities
The project promotes five main actions to combat child educational poverty:
Child Municipality Policy: the city friendly to children: the action promotes alliances between institutions, third sector organisations, businesses and citizens to improve children's wellbeing through structured meetings to develop local policies.
Civic Learning: the path includes a cycle of solidarity service workshops that meet specific needs of the territory and children, actively involving participants from planning to final evaluation. It promotes the development of citizenship and work skills, expanding knowledge through the practical application of values and study disciplines.
Design Thinking and Sustainability: the path aims at active involvement in rethinking urban spaces with design, graphic facilitation and co-design to create a guide with good practices and innovative projects. It promotes sustainability with activities such as urban forestry and encouraging environmental responsibility.
Architecture Laboratory: the path guides children in exploring and designing integrative and sustainable urban spaces, through post-school educational activities on urban planning, architecture, environment, art, design, urban agriculture and food education. It develops non-cognitive skills, promotes teamwork, leadership and active participation in extracurricular activities.
Development of the educating community and parenting support: the action promotes dynamic events unifying families, teachers and the community to share innovative educational tools and develop a toolkit to guide educational innovation. Discussion tables with the educating community integrate urban and social policies, supporting educators in school classrooms with training on socio-emotional skills for empathetic and effective teaching.
